Giving Tuesday – Please Support Mercy & Friends

This Giving Tuesday we are featuring a Terrier Mix. She came into our shelter clinging to life.
She apparently was attacked by another animal and left in a ditch barely breathing. Our head
veterinarian Dr. Paul and his medical team quickly went into trauma mode and began life saving
treatment. This little terrier was had puncture marks and was ripped open on both sides of her
body, including her head and face. She was rushed into surgery and put back together. It was
discovered, at that point, her spleen was so enlarged from the trauma she endured, that she
could not even lay down comfortably. We used blankets and beds to prop her up so she could
rest her tired body along the wall of the cage.
This dog was in such critical condition that our staff would watch over her 24 hours a day. We
would cry and pray for her. We even asked God to please help this little girl and to have Mercy
on her. When we would say the word “Mercy” she would lift her little head and stare into our
eyes. We knew at that moment she was a true miracle and named her “Mercy.” As time went
by, Mercy began to show improvement. Her healing process is coming along nicely and she is a
fighter. It is just a matter of time before she starts running and playing again. If it were not for
the Animal Welfare League , this little girl most likely would not be here today. She is just one
example of so many regarding the life saving work that is done at our shelter.
We ask that you please support the Animal Welfare League this Giving Tuesday so can continue
with our mission of saving animals. We care for hundreds of homeless, abandoned, sick,
unwanted and special needs animals on a daily basis. We are able to do this through
the donations received from others.
Any amount you can spare would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.
