Giving Tuesday – Please Support “Pretty Pearl” and Her Friends!
This Giving Tuesday we are featuring a miniature poodle. This little girl’s name is “Pretty Pearl” and she is approximately 14 years old.
Pearl came to us in need of immediate care. She was so severely matted that we had to sedate her and perform a medical shave down. It was, at that time, the veterinarian discovered she was in pain and suffering from an untreated eye injury. Her eye was removed and she began the healing process. Pretty Pearl is currently under doctor’s care and is in the process of a full medical workup. She is very thin and has significant hair loss. She has been x-rayed and is currently undergoing a full blood panel. A dog at the age of 14 can have many things wrong such as a hormonal imbalance, cancer, auto-immune diseases, etc.
Pretty Pearl is surrounded by a loving and caring staff. She loves to cuddle, snuggle, and constantly wants to be carried around by the employees. She gives kisses to everyone that comes in contact with her. She will remain a special needs dog in our care for as long as it is necessary. She loves to eat homemade chicken and Little Caesars’ is her favorite food. Our shelter has a history of caring for special needs animals. We recognize that senior pets have a lot to offer and definitely deserve a second chance at life. Senior pets can give back so much more, if only they were given a chance. Their love is unconditional and grows with age. If it were not for the Animal Welfare League, this little girl most likely would not be here today. Pretty Pearl is just one example of so many animals that come thru our doors and lives which we have saved. Thanks to donors such as yourself, we are able to continue our mission of caring for animals in need.

We care for hundreds of homeless, abandoned, sick, unwanted and special needs animals on a daily basis. We are only able to do this through the donations received from others.
